Local Anti-Racism Program

The Unity in Diversity initiative is proudly supported by the Victorian Government through the Local Anti-Racism Initiatives Grants Program 2024–26. Victoria is one of Australia’s most culturally diverse states, with over 1.5 million residents born overseas and more than 200 nationalities represented.

In Hume, around 40% of residents were born overseas, and over 160 languages are spoken at home, reflecting a vibrant multicultural and multifaith community.

The Unity in Diversity program celebrates culture, promotes inclusion, and strengthens community connections in Hume. Through arts and storytelling workshops, educational programs, peer mentoring, and community engagement, the program empowers residents—especially seniors, youth, people with disabilities, refugees, and asylum seekers—to share their voices, learn about their rights and support services, and build meaningful connections.

This initiative is delivered in partnership with Northern Community Legal Centre, Hume City Council, and local organizations. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Victorian Government for funding this project, enabling us to tackle racism, empower communities, and foster a more inclusive and connected future for all.

Stay tuned for upcoming capacity-building workshops as part of the Unity in Diversity Program.
