Event Summary

Unity in Diversity: Creative Expression & Anti-Racism Workshop 3 (Youth with All Abilities)

On Thursday, 30 October 2025, the Australian Multicultural Community Centre hosted Voice of Unity: Expressing Our Stories Through Art at 75 Lakeside Drive, Roxburgh Park — the third workshop in our Unity in Diversity series. The day brought together CALD youth with disabilities for a vibrant, creative experience centred on storytelling, self-expression, and solidarity.

From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, participants explored themes of identity, belonging, and anti-racism through guided painting and narrative sharing activities. In a safe and welcoming environment, young people shared personal stories of their lived experiences, including moments of racism and discrimination, and transformed those experiences into meaningful works of art. The atmosphere was warm and supportive, with participants encouraging one another, building new friendships, and discovering the power of creative expression as a tool for healing and connection.

The workshop provided all materials, refreshments, and accessibility support to ensure every young person could fully participate. The artworks and stories created during the day will be featured in an upcoming community showcase, amplifying the voices of CALD youth with disabilities across Hume.

This workshop reinforced the core mission of the Unity in Diversity project — to celebrate culture, foster inclusion, and strengthen community cohesion in Hume. By bringing young people together through art, we helped build awareness, resilience, and solidarity within our community.

The Youth with Disability Program is proudly supported by VicHealth's Growing Healthy Communities, with generous funding from the Victorian State Government. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, facilitators, and supporters who made this workshop possible.
