Hassan Project
The Hassan Short Film Project was initiated to address the pressing needs of young people in Hume, particularly regarding the detrimental effects of peer pressure and criminal behavior. Many youth in our community face social, economic, and cultural challenges that make them susceptible to negative influences, which can have long-lasting impacts on their well-being and future prospects. This project aims to provide a constructive outlet for youth to explore and express themselves through filmmaking and storytelling.
By engaging young individuals in the filmmaking process, we aim to build their confidence, skills, and creativity, while promoting positive values and healthy decision-making. The resulting short film tells the story of a teenage boy who learns a valuable lesson about friendship after being left behind at a crime scene. Through his interactions with two different friend groups, the film encourages viewers to reflect on the importance of surrounding themselves with positive influences. It highlights the risks young people face in their social environments and educates them on how to make safer choices by examining their friendships.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to **Hume City Council** and the "Hume Empowering Communities" funding for their generous support, which made this project possible. The film was successfully screened at the Broadmeadows Youth Centre on May 24, 2024, and continues to foster vital conversations about friendship and safety within our community.
