Event Summary

On 24 November 2025, a Cyber Safety Awareness session was delivered to a CALD seniors group. An Arabic interpreter supported the session to ensure participants could fully understand the content and engage comfortably. The workshop introduced key cyber safety topics, including common scams, phishing, malware, suspicious emails, unsafe links, and the importance of strong passphrases. Practical examples from the slides—such as fake emails, scam messages, and risky downloads—helped make the information easy to follow.

The group showed strong interest throughout the session, sharing that they often receive scam calls, texts, and online messages similar to those presented. Many participants expressed that this was the first time the dangers were clearly explained in a way they could understand. By the end, they gained practical tips for recognising scams, protecting their devices, and staying safe online, increasing their confidence to navigate digital communication more securely.

"We sincerely thank all participants and contributors for making this event a success. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to our funding body. This Cyber Security Awareness Support for Vulnerable Groups grant activity received grant funding from the Australian Government for their continued support, which has made this project possible."
